From

Feeling numb

to

Rooting into your body

You left your body because it was really painful to be there where the scary and uncontrollable things were going on.

Some people call this “trauma.”

I think it’s easier to say: Fucked up shit happened, and then you said, “It’s not safe here. Peace out.”

Nowadays, being in your body is still pretty terrifying. It seems like every time you land in the present moment and start to get in touch with your emotions, an overwhelming amount of sadness, anger, and fear comes bubbling up — so you panic.

You may have even started to rely on putting something in your body to help you to not feel.

(A donut, a drink, a drug, and a dick are the most common escapes.)

You think life would be a lot easier without feelings, and you just want to make them go away.

You probably know what it’s like to say, “I’m fine!” with tears streaming down your face.

Yes, it’s hard to let other people in — but you don’t really want to go “in” either!

At this point, you’ve bottled everything up for so long that you’ve completely lost touch with what’s really going on for you.

That means not only no feelings, but also you’re out of touch with your hopes and dreams and motivation. (These things are all connected.)

I know what it’s like

To live on high alert, constantly scanning for threats.

To stay away from people and places that bring back the bad memories.

To keep ending up in sketchy situations, over and over.

To feel ashamed of yourself, insecure with who you are, and uncomfortable in your body.

To not trust anyone — including yourself.

And also, I know it can get better.

You could transform your life

by getting in touch with your emotions.

“But can’t I just keep not feeling my feelings?”

If you’ve been noticing that you often don’t know how you’re feeling, or how to make an important decision, then you’re in the right place.

Each emotion has a special message, and learning to navigate what’s going on inside can help you to feel more confident with your choices and being yourself in your relationships.

Your body has an internal alarm system that can guide and protect you by alerting you to opportunities as well as dangers.

That means you’re missing out on a lot of good intel by shutting down your feelings!

If you’ve been abused or have survived some really traumatic situations, then learning how to work with your inner bodyguard is especially important.

Your emotions can give you useful information, like:

  • Whether to stick with a relationship or job

  • How safe a person or place is

  • Which direction on your life path is best for you

  • When to reach out and connect vs. when it’s time to recharge in solitude

  • When your boundaries are being violated, and what to do about it

The problem is that you’ve been trained not to trust your real feelings.

Also, your mind has a tendency of creating “fake news” false emotions like anxiety, which messes up your ability to figure out what’s really going on.

You’ve been missing a lot of really valuable insight, and I can teach you how to catch it — not only to keep yourself safe, but more importantly, to start living life in high definition.

What does healing look like?

Real change starts with admitting that you are sick of suffering in silence.

It’s daring to hope that things could get better if you started to talk about what’s going on.

We can work together to let go of pain that you have been carrying since before you can remember.

You can learn to take it easy on yourself, giving yourself some grace and room to be imperfectly human.

When you love and respect yourself, you will attract into your life people who also love and respect you.

Then, the toxic and controlling relationships will fall away naturally.

You could get in touch with your intuition so that you know when something doesn’t feel right, and have the confidence to act on those messages to keep yourself safe.

Imagine relaxing into a deep sense of calm throughout your whole body.

Feeling centered, secure, and solidly rooted in the present moment.

You could get back to doing the things you love, going to the places you love, and feeling brave enough to open up to the people you love.

It is possible to live with more ease and peace and space to just be

You have it within you to get in touch with your power, your passions, and your purpose in life.

To feel inside your bones a deep knowing that you’re on the right track and doing what you’re meant to do in this lifetime.

To move on from the darkness of the past, and Own Your Colors.

I believe in you.

I believe that you can take control of your life and feel so much better than you do right now.

You were strong enough to get through everything that has happened to you.

A lot of people wouldn’t be able to get out of bed after living the life that you have, and here you are, looking for ways to get back out there. That’s amazing!

You learned to protect yourself, and you’ve been pushing the world away so no one sees your hurting heart. If you used that same strength in the service of your own healing, there would be no stopping you.

You are so beautiful and so capable. I know that you might not see this in yourself right now, and that’s alright.

I see it in you. I will hold out a vision of your complete healing until you feel ready to hold it for yourself.

You weren’t born broken, and luckily for everyone, how broken you feel right now isn’t forever

We can change this.

You don’t have to put your life on hold anymore.
